Code P2083 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

P2083 code indicates an intermittent issue with the exhaust gas temperature sensor circuit for bank 2, sensor 1 in a vehicle.

Code symptoms P2083.

– Check engine light is illuminated on the dashboard
– Poor engine performance or decreased fuel efficiency
– Rough idling or stalling
– Increased exhaust emissions


This code is common in brands such as:: Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Honda.

Causes of the code P2083.

1. Faulty exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1.
2. Loose or damaged wiring harness.
3. Corrosion or poor connection.
4. Engine or exhaust system leaks.
5. ECM malfunction.


Code Solutions P2083.

1. Check the wiring and connections related to the exhaust gas temperature sensor for any signs of damage, corrosion, or looseness. Repair or replace any faulty wiring or connectors.
2. Inspect the exhaust gas temperature sensor itself for any visible damage or contamination. Replace the sensor if necessary.
3. Perform a diagnostic scan using a suitable diagnostic tool to check for any stored fault codes or pending codes. Clear the codes and monitor the system for any reoccurrence.
4. Check the exhaust system for any leaks or blockages that could be affecting the sensor readings. Repair or replace any damaged components as needed.
5. Reset the electronic control module (ECM) and perform a road test to monitor the operation of the exhaust gas temperature sensor. Verify that the sensor readings are within the expected range.
