The code P0977 indicates a high voltage condition in the shift solenoid “B” control circuit.

P0977 Shift Solenoid “B” Control Circuit High

Code symptoms P0977.

– Harsh shifting
– Delayed shifting
– Transmission slippage
– Transmission not shifting into the correct gear

Causes of the code P0977.

1. Faulty shift solenoid “B”: The shift solenoid “B” itself may be defective, causing it to send a high voltage signal.
2. Wiring issues: There may be a short or open circuit in the wiring connected to the shift solenoid “B,” leading to a high voltage condition.
3. Faulty transmission control module (TCM): The TCM might be malfunctioning and incorrectly sending a high voltage signal to the shift solenoid “B.”
4. Corrosion or damage: Corrosion or physical damage to the shift solenoid “B” or its wiring harness can result in a high voltage reading.
5. Poor electrical connection: Loose or poor electrical connections between the shift solenoid “B,” TCM, or wiring harness can cause a high voltage condition.

Code Solutions P0977.

1. Check the wiring and connections to the shift solenoid “B” for any damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Repair or replace as needed.
2. Inspect the shift solenoid “B” itself for any physical damage or malfunctions. Replace the solenoid if necessary.
3. Test the shift solenoid “B” using a multimeter to ensure it is functioning properly. Replace if it is faulty.
4. Check the transmission control module (TCM) for any fault codes related to the shift solenoid “B” circuit high. Reset the codes and retest to see if the issue persists.
5. If all else fails, consult a professional mechanic or take your vehicle to a dealership for further diagnosis and repair.
