Code P0971 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

P0971 is a diagnostic trouble code indicating that there is a high voltage condition in the control circuit of the Pressure Control Solenoid “C” in a vehicle’s transmission system.

Code symptoms P0971.

– Check engine light illuminated on the dashboard
– Harsh shifting or delayed shifting of gears
– Decreased fuel efficiency
– Vehicle entering limp mode or stuck in one gear


Causes of the code P0971.

1. Faulty pressure control solenoid “C”
2. Damaged wiring or connectors in the pressure control solenoid circuit
3. Corroded electrical connections in the control circuit
4. Issues with the transmission control module (TCM)
5. Internal transmission issues such as valve body problems or fluid contamination


Code Solutions P0971.

1. Check the wiring harness and connectors for any damages or corrosion. Repair or replace as needed.
2. Inspect the pressure control solenoid “C” for proper operation and replace if faulty.
3. Verify that the transmission fluid is at the correct level and in good condition. Top off or replace if necessary.
4. Perform a thorough diagnosis using a scan tool to identify any other potential issues related to the pressure control solenoid circuit.
5. Reset the trouble code and test drive the vehicle to see if the issue reoccurs, indicating a successful repair.
