Code P0872 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0872 trouble code indicates that there’s a problem with the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch “C” circuit, specifically indicating that the circuit is reading a lower than expected voltage.


P0872 Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch “C” Circuit Low

Code symptoms P0872.

1. The Check Engine Light (CEL) may illuminate on the dashboard.
2. The transmission may not shift properly or smoothly.
3. Harsh or delayed shifting.
4. The vehicle may go into “limp mode,” which limits speed and performance.
5. Other transmission-related trouble codes may be present.


Causes of the code P0872.

1. A faulty transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch.
2. Low transmission fluid level or dirty transmission fluid.
3. Wiring or connector issues in the circuit.
4. Poor electrical connection or corrosion in the sensor or switch connector.
5. Problems with the transmission control module (TCM).
6. Internal transmission issues affecting pressure regulation.


Code Solutions P0872.

1. Top up or replace the transmission fluid if it’s low or dirty.
2. Replace the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch if it’s faulty.
3. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors in the circuit.
4. Ensure good electrical connections and clean any corrosion from connectors.
5. If the issue persists, further diagnostics may be needed to identify internal transmission problems.
6. Clear the trouble codes from the vehicle’s computer after repairs are complete.
7. Test drive the vehicle to confirm that the issue has been resolved.
