Code P0799 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0799 trouble code indicates an intermittent issue with the Pressure Control Solenoid C circuit.

Pressure Control Solenoid “C” Intermittent

Code symptoms P0799.

1. Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminated on the dashboard.
2. Fluctuations in vehicle speed readings.
3. Problems with shifting gears, especially during acceleration or deceleration.
4. Harsh or delayed shifting.
5. Transmission may not respond properly to driver inputs.
6. Reduced fuel efficiency.
7. Transmission slipping.

Causes of the code P0799.

1. Intermittent connection issues or loose wiring in the Pressure Control Solenoid C circuit.
2. Faulty Pressure Control Solenoid C.
3. Poor electrical connections at the solenoid or transmission control module (TCM).
4. Intermittent shorts or open circuits in the solenoid circuit.
5. Vibration or temperature fluctuations causing intermittent solenoid operation.
6. Faulty TCM.

Code Solutions P0799.

1. Use a scan tool to retrieve freeze frame data and any other stored trouble codes. This information can provide insight into when and how the malfunction occurred.
2. Inspect the wiring and connectors associated with the Pressure Control Solenoid C circuit for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Pay particular attention to areas where wiring may be subject to movement or vibration. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors as needed.
3. Check the transmission fluid level and condition. Low fluid level or contaminated fluid can affect solenoid operation. If the fluid is low, top it up to the appropriate level. If it’s contaminated or burnt, a fluid flush and replacement may be necessary.
4. Test the Pressure Control Solenoid C itself using a multimeter or other appropriate diagnostic tools to ensure it is receiving power and functioning properly. Replace the solenoid if necessary.
5. Perform a thorough inspection of the connectors and terminals for the solenoid and TCM. Clean and secure any loose connections.
6. Conduct a wiggle test on the wiring harness while monitoring the scan tool for any changes in data. This can help identify intermittent wiring faults.
7. If the problem persists, further diagnostics on the TCM and related systems may be necessary.
8. Clear the trouble codes from the vehicle’s computer memory and test drive the vehicle to see if the code returns. If it does, further diagnosis or repairs may be required.
