Code P0626 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0626 trouble code indicates that the generator field or f terminal circuit is detecting a high voltage condition. This circuit is responsible for controlling the output of the alternator or generator in the vehicle’s charging system.


P0626 Generator Field/F Terminal Circuit High

Code symptoms P0626.

1. Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminated on the dashboard.
2. Battery warning light illuminated on the dashboard.
3. Vehicle may experience electrical system issues, such as flickering lights or overcharging of the battery.


This code is common in brands such as:: Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Honda.

Causes of the code P0626.

1. Faulty generator or alternator.
2. Loose, damaged, or corroded wiring and connectors in the generator field or f terminal circuit.
3. Faulty generator field or f terminal circuit relay.
4. Defective battery.
5. Faulty voltage regulator.


Code Solutions P0626.

1. Inspect the wiring and connectors associated with the generator field or f terminal circuit for any signs of damage, corrosion, or looseness. Repair or replace wiring and connectors as needed.
2. Test the generator or alternator to ensure it is functioning properly. Replace if necessary.
3. Test the generator field or f terminal circuit relay for proper operation. Replace the relay if it is faulty.
4. Check the battery for proper voltage and condition. Replace if needed.
5. Test the voltage regulator to ensure it is functioning correctly. Replace if necessary.
6. Clear the trouble codes and test drive the vehicle to see if the P0626 code returns. If it does, further diagnosis may be necessary.
