P2133 code indicates a high voltage condition in the throttle or pedal position sensor or switch “F” circuit.

Code symptoms P2133.

1. Loss of acceleration or reduced engine power
2. Engine stalling or rough idling
3. Check Engine Light illuminated on the dashboard
4. Vehicle going into “limp mode” to protect the engine from further damage


This code is common in brands such as:: Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Honda.

Causes of the code P2133.

1. Faulty throttle position sensor
2. Wiring issues such as a short circuit or open circuit in the throttle or pedal position sensor circuit
3. Corrosion or poor connection in the sensor circuit
4. Engine control module (ECM) issues or failure
5. Environmental factors such as water intrusion or dirt affecting the sensor’s operation


Code Solutions P2133.

1. Check the wiring harness and connectors for any loose connections or corrosion. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors.
2. Inspect the throttle position sensor (TPS) and pedal position sensor (PPS) for any signs of damage or wear. Replace any faulty sensors.
3. Perform a thorough inspection of the throttle body and clean it if necessary. A dirty throttle body can cause sensor malfunctions.
4. Reset the engine control module (ECM) by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. This can sometimes clear the error code.
5. If the issue persists, consider seeking professional help to diagnose and repair the specific underlying cause of the high circuit signal.
