Code P2087 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

P2087 is a diagnostic trouble code indicating an intermittent circuit issue with the exhaust gas temperature sensor on bank 2, sensor 2 in a vehicle’s exhaust system.

This code is common in brands such as:: Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Honda.

Causes of the code P2087.

– Faulty exhaust gas temperature sensor
– Loose or damaged wiring or connectors
– Engine overheating
– Exhaust system leaks
– Corrosion or sensor build-up


Code Solutions P2087.

1. Check the wiring and connections leading to Bank 2 Sensor 2 for any damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Repair or replace as necessary.

2. Inspect the exhaust gas temperature sensor for any signs of damage or malfunction. Replace the sensor if it is faulty.

3. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) using a scan tool and monitor the sensor readings to see if the issue recurs. This can help determine if the fault was intermittent or if it persists.

4. Check for any exhaust leaks near Bank 2 Sensor 2 that could be affecting its readings. Repair the leaks to ensure accurate sensor data.

5. Perform a relearn procedure on the exhaust gas temperature sensor system to recalibrate the sensor and ensure proper operation.
