Code symptoms P0979.

1. Harsh shifting or delayed shifting of gears.
2. Decreased fuel efficiency.
3. Transmission slippage.
4. Illumination of the check engine light.


Causes of the code P0979.

1. Faulty shift solenoid “C”
2. Wiring or connection issues in the shift solenoid circuit
3. Low transmission fluid level or dirty fluid
4. Faulty transmission control module (TCM)
5. Internal transmission failure


Code Solutions P0979.

1. Check the shift solenoid “C” for any physical damage or corrosion and replace if necessary.
2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors related to the shift solenoid “C” for any damage or loose connections, repairing or replacing as needed.
3. Test the shift solenoid “C” circuit using a multimeter to check for proper voltage and continuity, replacing any faulty components.
4. Verify the transmission fluid level and condition, ensuring it is at the correct level and not contaminated, as low or dirty fluid can affect solenoid performance.
5. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes using a scan tool and perform a test drive to see if the P0979 code returns, indicating whether the issue has been resolved.
