Code P0885 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0885 trouble code indicates a malfunction in the transmission control module (TCM) power relay control circuit, specifically that it’s open.


P0885 TCM Power Relay Control Circuit/Open

Code symptoms P0885.

1. Check Engine Light (CEL) is illuminated.
2. The transmission may fail to shift gears properly or go into limp mode.
3. Transmission may experience harsh shifting or slipping.
4. Other related trouble codes may be present.


Causes of the code P0885.

1. Faulty transmission control module (TCM) power relay.
2. Open or short circuit in the TCM power relay control circuit.
3. Corroded or loose electrical connectors in the TCM power relay circuit.
4. Faulty TCM.
5. Blown fuse related to the TCM power supply.


Code Solutions P0885.

1. Replace the faulty transmission control module (TCM) power relay.
2. Repair any open or short circuits in the TCM power relay control circuit.
3. Clean and tighten any corroded or loose electrical connectors in the TCM power relay circuit.
4. Replace any blown fuses related to the TCM power supply.
5. If the TCM itself is faulty, it may need to be replaced and reprogrammed.
6. Clear the trouble codes from the vehicle’s computer after repairs are complete.
7. Test drive the vehicle to confirm that the issue has been resolved.
