Code P0874 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0874 trouble code indicates an intermittent issue with the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch “C” circuit.

Code symptoms P0874.

1. The Check Engine Light (CEL) may illuminate intermittently.
2. Fluctuations in transmission shifting behavior, such as rough or delayed shifts.
3. Reduced fuel efficiency.
4. Possible transmission overheating.
5. Other transmission-related trouble codes may be present.


Causes of the code P0874.

1. Intermittent electrical connection issues in the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch circuit.
2. Faulty transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch.
3. Corrosion or damage to wiring and connectors associated with the circuit.
4. Problems with the transmission control module (TCM).
5. Vibration or movement causing intermittent sensor or switch operation.


Code Solutions P0874.

1. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors in the circuit.
2. Ensure good electrical connections and clean any corrosion from connectors.
3. Replace the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch if it’s faulty.
4. If the issue persists, further diagnostics may be needed to identify underlying problems with the TCM or transmission.
5. Clear the trouble codes from the vehicle’s computer after repairs are complete.
6. Test drive the vehicle to confirm that the issue has been resolved.
