The P0849 trouble code indicates an intermittent issue with the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch “B” circuit. Here’s what you should know:

Code symptoms P0849.

1. Inconsistent shifting behavior.
2. Rough or harsh shifting.
3. Transmission slipping.
4. Reduced fuel efficiency.
5. Illumination of the Check Engine Light (CEL) or Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the dashboard.


Causes of the code P0849.

1. Faulty transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch “B”.
2. Loose or corroded wiring or connectors in the sensor circuit.
3. Intermittent short circuits in the sensor circuit.
4. Faulty transmission control module (TCM).
5. Issues with the transmission fluid pressure itself, such as low fluid level or contamination.


Code Solutions P0849.

1. Replace the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch “B” if it’s found to be faulty.
2. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors in the sensor circuit.
3. Secure and insulate any wiring harness issues to prevent chafing or rubbing.
4. Ensure the transmission fluid level is correct and of good quality.
5. Reset the fault codes and test drive the vehicle to verify that the issue has been resolved.
