Code P0847 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0847 trouble code indicates that there’s a problem with the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch “B” circuit, specifically that the circuit is reporting a low voltage. Here’s what you should know:


P0847 Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch “B” Circuit Low

Code symptoms P0847.

1. Difficulty shifting gears.
2. Slipping or jerking during gear changes.
3. Overheating of the transmission.
4. Illumination of the Check Engine Light (CEL) or Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the dashboard.


Causes of the code P0847.

1. Faulty transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch “B”.
2. Low transmission fluid level or dirty transmission fluid.
3. Damaged or corroded wiring or connectors in the sensor circuit.
4. Intermittent short circuits in the sensor circuit.
5. Internal transmission problems.
6. Faulty transmission control module (TCM).


Code Solutions P0847.

1. Replace the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch “B” if it’s found to be faulty.
2. Check and replenish the transmission fluid level if it’s low or contaminated.
3. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors in the sensor circuit.
4. Secure and insulate any wiring harness issues to prevent chafing or rubbing.
5. Address any internal transmission issues if detected.
6. Check and, if necessary, replace the transmission control module (TCM) if other issues are ruled out.
