Code P0798 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0798 trouble code indicates an electrical issue with the Pressure Control Solenoid C circuit.

Pressure Control Solenoid “C” Electrical

Code symptoms P0798.

1. Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminated on the dashboard.
2. Fluctuations in vehicle speed readings.
3. Problems with shifting gears, especially during acceleration or deceleration.
4. Harsh or delayed shifting.
5. Transmission may not respond properly to driver inputs.
6. Reduced fuel efficiency.
7. Transmission slipping.

Causes of the code P0798.

1. Faulty Pressure Control Solenoid C.
2. Wiring issues, such as damaged wires, shorts, or open circuits in the solenoid circuit.
3. Poor electrical connections at the solenoid or transmission control module (TCM).
4. Low transmission fluid level or contaminated transmission fluid.
5. Faulty TCM.

Code Solutions P0798.

1. Use a scan tool to retrieve freeze frame data and any other stored trouble codes. This information can provide insight into when and how the malfunction occurred.
2. Inspect the wiring and connectors associated with the Pressure Control Solenoid C circuit for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors as needed.
3. Check the transmission fluid level and condition. Low fluid level or contaminated fluid can affect solenoid operation. If the fluid is low, top it up to the appropriate level. If it’s contaminated or burnt, a fluid flush and replacement may be necessary.
4. Test the Pressure Control Solenoid C itself using a multimeter or other appropriate diagnostic tools to ensure it is receiving power and functioning properly. Replace the solenoid if necessary.
5. Perform a voltage drop test on the circuit to identify any excessive resistance that may be causing the electrical issue. Repair any high resistance connections or wiring faults.
6. Check the connectors and terminals for the solenoid and TCM for proper fit and corrosion. Clean and secure any loose connections.
7. If the problem persists, further diagnostics on the TCM and related systems may be necessary.
8. Clear the trouble codes from the vehicle’s computer memory and test drive the vehicle to see if the code returns. If it does, further diagnosis or repairs may be required.
