Code P0724 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0724 code indicates a high voltage condition in the torque converter clutch (TCC) brake switch B circuit. This switch is responsible for informing the engine control module (ECM) or transmission control module (TCM) when the brakes are applied and the torque converter lockup clutch should be disengaged.

1. Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminated on the dashboard.
2. Harsh or delayed shifting.
3. Engine stalling when coming to a stop.
4. Decreased fuel efficiency.
5. Transmission overheating.
6. Vehicle may go into “limp mode” to prevent further damage.


This code is common in brands such as:: Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Honda.

Causes of the code P0724.

1. Faulty torque converter clutch brake switch B.
2. Short to power in the brake switch B circuit.
3. Corrosion or damage to the wiring or connectors associated with the brake switch B circuit.
4. Faulty ECM or TCM.


Code Solutions P0724.

1. Inspect the wiring and connectors associated with the torque converter clutch brake switch B for any signs of damage, corrosion, or wear. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors as necessary.
2. Use a multimeter to test the voltage in the brake switch B circuit. If voltage is higher than expected, trace the circuit to locate the source of the high voltage, such as a short to power.
3. Test the torque converter clutch brake switch B for proper operation using a scan tool or multimeter. Replace the switch if it fails the test.
4. Clear the trouble codes from the ECM or TCM memory and perform a test drive to see if the issue recurs. Monitor the vehicle for any further symptoms.
