Code P0614 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0614 trouble code indicates that there is an incompatibility issue between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the Transmission Control Module (TCM). This means that the ECM and TCM are not communicating or working together properly.

1. Check Engine Light illuminated on the dashboard.
2. Transmission may not shift properly or may shift erratically.
3. Harsh shifting or slipping transmission.
4. Reduced fuel efficiency.
5. Vehicle may go into limp mode, restricting speed and performance.


This code is common in brands such as:: Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Honda.

Causes of the code P0614.

1. Incompatible software versions between the ECM and TCM.
2. Electrical issues such as damaged wiring or connectors leading to the ECM or TCM.
3. Faulty ECM or TCM.


Code Solutions P0614.

1. Clear the trouble codes and see if the P0614 code returns. Sometimes, the code may be triggered by a temporary communication glitch.
2. Perform a software update or reflash on both the ECM and TCM to ensure they are running compatible software versions.
3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the ECM and TCM for any signs of damage, corrosion, or poor connections. Repair or replace as needed.
4. Perform a diagnostic scan using a professional diagnostic scanner capable of accessing ECM and TCM data. This will help identify any specific communication or compatibility issues between the two modules.
5. If the problem persists and the ECM or TCM is confirmed to be faulty, it will likely need to be replaced. Consult a qualified technician or dealership for further diagnosis and repair.
