Code P0579 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0579 trouble code indicates that the cruise control multi-function input circuit “A” is experiencing a range or performance issue. This means that the signal from the cruise control buttons or switches is not within the expected range or is performing outside of normal parameters.

Code symptoms P0579.

1. Inoperative cruise control system.
2. Difficulty engaging or disengaging cruise control.
3. Illumination of the Check Engine Light.
4. Cruise control may engage unexpectedly or not disengage when commanded.
5. Abnormal behavior from the cruise control buttons or switches.


This code is common in brands such as:: Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Honda.

Causes of the code P0579.

1. Faulty cruise control buttons or switches.
2. Wiring or connector issues in the cruise control multi-function input circuit.
3. Faulty cruise control module.
4. Improper installation of aftermarket cruise control components.
5. Defective PCM.


Code Solutions P0579.

1. Inspect the cruise control buttons or switches for proper operation. Replace any faulty components.
2. Thoroughly inspect the wiring harness and connectors associated with the cruise control multi-function input circuit for signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors.
3. Verify proper operation of the cruise control module. Replace if necessary.
4. If aftermarket cruise control components were recently installed, ensure they are installed correctly and compatible with the vehicle’s system.
5. Use diagnostic tools to test the cruise control system and PCM for proper function. If necessary, replace the PCM after confirming that all other components are in working order.
