Code P0578 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0578 trouble code indicates that the cruise control multi-function input circuit “A” is stuck. This means that the signal from the cruise control buttons or switches is continuously present, even when it shouldn’t be.


P0578 Cruise Control Multi-Function Input “A” Circuit Stuck

Code symptoms P0578.

1. Inoperative cruise control system.
2. Difficulty engaging or disengaging cruise control.
3. Illumination of the Check Engine Light.
4. Cruise control may engage unexpectedly or not disengage when commanded.


This code is common in brands such as:: Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Honda.

Causes of the code P0578.

1. Stuck cruise control buttons or switches.
2. Short to voltage in the cruise control multi-function input circuit.
3. Faulty cruise control module.
4. Wiring or connector issues in the cruise control system.
5. Defective PCM.


Code Solutions P0578.

1. Inspect the cruise control buttons or switches for any signs of sticking or damage. Replace any faulty components.
2. Check for any shorts to voltage in the cruise control multi-function input circuit. Repair any damaged wiring or replace any faulty components causing the short.
3. Verify proper operation of the cruise control module. Replace if necessary.
4. Thoroughly inspect the wiring harness and connectors associated with the cruise control multi-function input circuit for signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors.
5. Use diagnostic tools to test the cruise control system and PCM for proper function. If necessary, replace the PCM after confirming that all other components are in working order.
