The P0563 trouble code indicates that the vehicle’s powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a voltage level above the normal operating range in the electrical system. This means that the voltage is consistently higher than what is required for proper vehicle operation.

System Voltage High

Code symptoms P0563.

1. Illumination of the Check Engine Light.
2. Battery warning light may illuminate on the dashboard.
3. Overcharging of the battery.

4. Issues with the PCM.

Code Solutions P0563.

1. Begin by checking the voltage with a multimeter to ensure it is within the manufacturer’s specified range. If the voltage is consistently high, the alternator or voltage regulator may be overcharging the electrical system.
2. Test the alternator and voltage regulator to determine if they are functioning properly. Replace any faulty components as needed.
3. Inspect the electrical system for short circuits or damaged wiring. Repair or replace any damaged components.
4. If no issues are found with the alternator, voltage regulator, or wiring, the PCM may be at fault. Further diagnostic testing may be needed to confirm this, and if necessary, the PCM should be replaced or reprogrammed.
