Code P0463 Symptoms, Causes and Solutions.

The P0463 trouble code indicates a high input signal from the fuel level sensor circuit. This sensor plays a crucial role in accurately measuring the fuel level in the tank and transmitting that data to the vehicle’s engine control module.

1. Inaccurate or constantly fluctuating fuel gauge readings, often showing higher than actual fuel levels.
2. Illuminated “Check Engine” or “Service Engine Soon” light on the dashboard.


This code is common in brands such as:: Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Honda.

Causes of the code P0463.

1. Faulty fuel level sensor.
2. Corroded or damaged wiring or connectors in the fuel level sensor circuit.
3. Poor electrical connection between the sensor and the engine control module.
4. Issues with the engine control module itself.


Code Solutions P0463.

1. Test the fuel level sensor to verify its functionality. Replace it if found to be faulty.
2. Inspect the wiring and connectors associated with the fuel level sensor for corrosion, damage, or loose connections. Repair or replace them as needed.
3. Ensure a secure electrical connection between the sensor and the engine control module.
4. Check the engine control module for proper operation. Reprogram or replace if necessary.
